The Stevens’ farm near Dumas in Desha County lies within the Middle Bayou Macon watershed, which is part of the Ouachita River Basin. The Middle Bayou Macon was selected as a Mississippi River Basin Initiative (MRBI) project area in 2011. The Stevens’ farm, approximately 1,000 acres,  is a cotton-corn-soybean-wheat rotation containing fields under the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). This Arkansas Discovery Farm was selected in 2011.  Currently, four monitoring stations are operating on four separate cotton fields.
